Bayonne Councilman Gary La Pelusa to seek re-election

first_imgBAYONNE – Third Ward Councilman Gary La Pelusa announced that he will seek re-election in the municipal elections in May on Mayor James Davis’s slate of council candidates. La Pelusa served on the City Council under Mayor Joe Doria from 2008 to 2010, and then again under Mayor James Davis from 2014 until now.La Pelusa owns and operates a landscaping company and founded a nonprofit in his family’s name that recognizes residents for achievements and participates in various charitable community projects. La Pelusa voted against tax abatements for residential developments in the center city.“Gary La Pelusa is a tremendous advocate for his neighborhood and our city and I’m excited to once again run with him on our team,” said Mayor Davis in a press release. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Councilman La Pelusa’s experience, his independent thinking and his commitment to Bayonne’s future. He is a veteran councilman, and we have come to rely upon his insight into solving many of Bayonne’s long term financial problems. He is a very valuable member of the Council and I know he is the right choice to continue representing the Third Ward.”“Four years ago Bayonne voters made a change in our city, and that decision has put our community back on the right track,” said Councilman La Pelusa. “Now we need to keep moving Bayonne forward by re-electing Mayor Davis and our entire team, and I’m excited to once again earn my neighbors’ support and trust.”La Pelusa will be the third sitting city council person to announce a run on Davis’s ticket. Council President Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski and Councilman at-Large Juan Perez announced their re-election bids in December. ×last_img
