JIMMY’S WINNING MATCHES! WE’RE IN THE ALL IRELAND FINAL!

first_imgWe’re in seventh heaven! They said we played our All Ireland final against Kerry and that the mighty Cork would stop our gallop. But the python that is the Donegal backline squeezed the life out of Cork at Croke Park this afternoon. Add to that a new found potency about the Donegal attack and now we know why people like Joe Brolly are calling us All Ireland champions in waiting.Cork matched Donegal point for point in the first half. But not for the first time Jim McGuinness’ side emerged from the dressing room with a hunger rarely seen at Croke Park. And for ten minutes they proceeded to eat Graham Canty and his team. That said Donegal squandered a huge amount of chances and should have been out of sight with ten minutes to go.Glenswilly man Neil Gallagher, so often the bridesmaid, was a tower of strength in the middle of the park. His fellow clubman showed flashes of what he can do but perhaps Michael Murphy is saving it for the final.Karl Lacey looked like he could be the new Seamus Coleman with superb on the ground control to twart attack after attack by Cork.Cork got a late glimmer of hope when they scored a goal to make it 0-16 to 1-11 in the 71st minute. To a man Donegal were working their socks off and the crowd played their part as well as Tir Conaill supporters outnumbered their opponents by three to oneWe’re there and we’re there on merit. We took the difficult route and the entire county should be proud of what we have done.Roll on September. Nevada officials reach out to Dbacks on potential

first_img Nevada officials reach out to D-backs on potential relocation Top Stories D-backs president Derrick Hall: Franchise ‘still focused on Arizona’ Comments   Share   Kevin Kolb dropped back to pass, saw the pressure and took off running.Fifteen yards later, the new Cards QB had the team’s first first down of the preseason. Kolb ran again three plays later, showing an aspect of his game many didn’t realize he had.“I ran the ball quite a bit in college,” Kolb said Monday. “It’s not the best part of my game but I think I can get around and move if I have to.”center_img The Cardinals, certainly, are hoping that doesn’t happen often, even though their QB did rush for 19 touchdowns back in his collegiate days. That Kolb ran with success was a good thing, but that he had to abandon looking downfield and avoid the rush most certainly was not. Then again, as head coach Ken Whisenhunt said, it’s the type of skill that could come in handy.“I don’t think you necessarily count on his ability to be able to run,” he said, “but it’s certainly a bonus when things break down.”In any event, nobody is going to confuse Kolb for the man who replaced him in Philadelphia anytime soon. So, aside from the occasional QB sneak, it appears you will not be seeing Kolb off and running — unless he absolutely has to.“If you’re asking me if we’re going to have about four or five designed quarterback runs in a game, probably not,” Whisenhunt said.ArizonaSports.com’s Craig Grialou contributed to this report What an MLB source said about the D-backs’ trade haul for Greinke Cardinals expect improving Murphy to contribute right awaylast_img read more
